Peak at Tam Dao
Tam Dao is a hill resort sitting atop a mountain ridge that rises from the flat lowlands of the Red River Delta 80 km from Hanoi. There are several peaks over 1,300 m rising from the ridge and the forest cover is lower montane evergreen forest with lowland evergreen at altitudes between 700 to 800 m.
The Tam Dao area is home to a large range of reptile and amphibian species including the globally threatened Vietnamese Salamander.

Attractions for birders include Blue-naped Pitta, Purple and Green Cochoas, Chestnut Bulbul, Grey Laughingthrush, Short-tailed and Greater Rufous-headed Parrotbills.
